When it connected and wouldn't display web pages I thought it would be a DNS problem, but couldn't find the settings anywhere.

So everything is tickity-boo now....

Wow, thanks for the quick reply chaps.

I have tried both your suggestions. At the moment GThreepwood is ahead by a nose. Your AT command has got me connected to what I assume to be the internet...

One more update.

Problem solved!

Here is the problem. If you are using any ISP that has specific DNS settings you will need to enter these settings into the connection instead of checking...

I installed easyroot. ran apt-get update under root and think I have uncovered the root of the problem. The problem that is, not the solution :).
