i tried that suggestion but it did not work for me. i think the problem is caused by a "extra" beta application which i installed but i dont know which one.

Now i have another problem. The big image file must have been deleted by itself and now i cant open the synaptic manager. do you know why it did that? i will have to download it again. anybody else...

when i first ran the image installer it said that the image file was installed. i guess thats not the case. shall i try and download the file again?
