I had the same problem, and I ended up uninstalling and re-installing Fcam and that made the problem go away.

I seriously doubt the debian choice to not go with rpm is ego related.

When I compare my years of fedora use vs similiar period with ubuntu, all I ever got in fedora/rpm was unresolved...

My N900 is very shiny and new, and I am not sufficiently expert enough to want to have to reflash, clean it up just yet ;-)
