gizmo 3.1.0.77 -- reinstall, don't upgrade
just wanted to mention my experience with the latest version of gizmo, in case someone else runs into the same problem:
I upgraded to 3.1.0.77 from the previous version, and it would not run....

I agree the modular lcd/plugin area is rather ugly but I do understand why it's there: the nanobook (likewise asus' eee pc) has to be a certain size chassis for fitting keyboard(and guts), and the 7"...

try running nethack.sh (you'll have to install xterm first)
it will attempt starting the game, and any errors about missing dependencies or otherwise ought to show themselves...

nethack on the 770 seems to be work in progress.
couple days ago I installed it and it started up fine; but as soon as I choose a character type/etc. it just died. have not yet checked logs for...

this is a great idea. did the same thing for my iriver h140: radio shack sells a compatible dc tip; I took a retractable psp usb charger cut the tip off and soldered the ratshack tip on.

I definitely see mmc speed patched kernels on fanoush's site for 39-14, but nothing for 49-2. not sure if that means 49-2 is already fixed for mmc speedup, or just that no-one patched it?

one might want to be a little more careful using e.g. wall-wart charger where the tip is mini-B (got a usb-charging camera, where they were nice enough to include one of these things...

not sure if the signal at the component you soldered to is more regulated vs. the charging pin,...
