If you haven't done so already you have to enable the wake on lan option on your motherboard.

OK, nevermind regarding my issue.
I was incorrectly installing nitdroid. I was leaving the appmanager open, locking dpkg, and causing the install to not go through at all...

No actually I did not realize that, however I've downloaded a cpu monitor app on nitdroid, and it gives cpu frequency and load. and it seems to never go above 500Mhz.

but my N900 gets really hot when using nitdroid... and it's disappointing that I cannot make or receive calls on nitdroid yet. So...

I'm not sure if anyone still gets connectivity issues, but I do on a daily basis.
When my internet connection switches from wifi to 2g or 3g internet, and vice versa, often GV tends to disconnect...
