My guess is that they patched the wifi driver (wl12xx) for injection since its based on the mac80211 (http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=mac80211) stack.

Have you tried "sudo nano /etc/sudoers" as user instead of "sudo gainroot" ?
I doubt it will work but worth a shot. Otherwise, Rob1n's suggestion is your best bet.

As qole mentioned, try pressing the power button in LXDE and then tap outside it to focus the keyboard (fastest way) and check if you still face that problem.

I think the Process ID number changes according to when the program is launched. You should use the process name instead and issue a killall command.
