But not for escape key. It always connected with quit; some changes in code required to make it work. But yes, I can change it.

BfW has a lot of grahics, so loading is slow. I can decrese size (compile with tinygui option), but then game is too small for N800 screen. I decided to leave it and change only themes...

OK, I know. You need proper locale on N800. Changing language work only if you have these same locale installed on maemo. This is maemo/linux/locales characteristic, not wesnoth or my port, sorry.
