Re: What is the future for the n900 from now? meego or no updates or nothing?

...you know, I dropped by for the first time in forever after running across the link in my bookmarks, just to see what was up with a device line I used to love. And the first thing that struck me,...

Re: 770 - the forgotten tablet

Except that in your example, each new generation doesn't obsolete the prior generation when it's released. MP3 players? I still have an old Rio 500 from 1999 that will work with MP3 files ripped or...

Re: So will you buy the N8100?

I've owned handhelds going all the way back to the TRS-80 Pocket Computer in the early 80's. :) Scratched and especially worn/scuffed screens are far more common than cracked ones (though that did...

Re: Tablet Advocacy

I agree getting the info onto the IT is an important aspect I overlooked. <sheepish look> On the iPod, it's pretty easy; just mount the iPod as a disk and drop vCard files into the Contacts folder....

Re: Tablet Advocacy

Even if the IT isn't your 'primary' device (and in the sense you're talking about, a handheld tablet is definitely the primary device for me; phones are a far distant second in usage), there's the...

Re: Tablet Advocacy

I certainly can't speak for him. ;) Here's the problem I had with your comparison, though: The Intel hardware platform is very long established, going back 26 years with huge amounts of software...

Re: Some hope for 770 owners...

Exactly. I was ready to plunk down the money (well, as soon as I'd scraped it up) to buy an 800 just before the news broke about the lack of OS 2007 support for the 770. I have no problem with paying...

Re: Some hope for 770 owners...

So now it's the developer's responsibility that Nokia broke the APIs moving forward?

I must have ended up in BizzaroWorld without noticing.

Thank you for channeling the stereotypical glib...

Re: Some hope for 770 owners...

I am not demanding backporting of the OS itself, per se.

What I am demanding is application compatibility. To give a concrete example of what I'm talking about:

I went in to the local CompUSA...

This makes me more concerned, in fact. Unofficial 'Mac users within Nokia compiling the flasher'-style support seems fundamentally fragile to me; what happens if your friend inside Nokia leaves? Are...

Nokia support's behavior on 2006 update using OS X

My apologies in advance if this post becomes intemperate; I'm still frustrated and annoyed by today's run-in with official Nokia support.

So.

I go ahead and decide to update to the 2006...
