Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

PortaBase 2.1 is now available in the Fremantle extras repository. There shouldn't be any major bugs at this point, but let me know if you do encounter any problems so I can fix them for the next...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

The extras-testing quarantine period for PortaBase 2.1 is over, but there are still only two votes in approval of promoting to extras. If you've been using it without trouble or can spare some time...

Re: Tizen?

I'm actually cautiously optimistic about this. My original goal way back when I bought a Sharp Zaurus was to be able to write applications for a fairly open mobile platform using libraries which...

Re: Is there an app to manage Credit Cards / Bank accounts?

I'm plugging my own application here, but I use PortaBase (http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/portabase/) for this. I have a financial transactions database that I originally created in...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

Allowing boolean columns to be used in calculations turned out to be a one-line change, so I just checked that in; it'll be in the next release. Syncing is much more complicated, and I suspect...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

First, the MobileDB import question I missed a while ago: PortaBase should correctly handle importing decimal fields, but I don't think any of my sample files have them (the import code was borrowed...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

I'm pretty sure the lock files are being generated by OpenOffice, not PortaBase; see these (http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=34169) discussions...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

I was writing a post to explain the CSV import, then saw that you already figured it out. I realize this process is rather awkward, so one of my goals for 2.1 is to be able to define a new PortaBase...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

PortaBase finally hit the required number of votes in extras-testing and has been promoted to extras. You can get it from the Fremantle download page...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

The "package karma" voting links are on the web page for the latest version of a package in extras-testing, which for PortaBase is currently here...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

A working version of PortaBase has been in extras-testing for the requisite 10 days, but it still doesn't have enough votes to promote it to extras. If there's anybody using PortaBase from...

Re: Spontaneous Program Termination of Qt Apps

The key point here is whether the app was launched from the command line or the application icon. When an app is launched from the command line, it's a standard process and acts pretty much as you'd...

Re: Spontaneous Program Termination of Qt Apps

Sounds like you need to implement support for D-Bus communication with the app; I suspect you have it configured to advertise itself as supporting D-Bus, but haven't yet added the code to actually do...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

First of all, please let me know if any of these assumptions are incorrect:

You're running the PR1.2 firmware
You haven't enabled the extras-testing or extras-devel repositories in the...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

Ah, looks like I forgot to change the default value string in the column editor when I implemented locale-aware number separators. I'll fix that in the next release; again, you've already found the...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

I actually spent a fair amount of time fiddling around with the row colors and looking through the Qt code that controls this. As far as I can tell, Qt 4.6.2 on Maemo 5 completely delegates...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

It looks like there was a problem managing the link to the executable from /usr/bin. Hadn't been a problem through multiple installs and uninstalls in extras-devel, so either extras-testing or PR1.2...

Re: [Announce] Gonvert

The problem with the from field being unselected is an interaction with the kinetic scrolling. On Diablo there's a scrollbar, so you can scroll the display without tapping on any rows of the table. ...

Re: [Announce] Gonvert

The two main things I'd like improved in the Gonvert UI:

Be able to select "from" and "to" units, and then enter new values for conversion without having to go hunt for them again. Right now,...

Re: Many people was speaking about the new QT before the PR1.2 update, and now where are the Qt applications?

PortaBase (http://portabase.sourceforge.net/) is a Qt app now available for the N900, as I mentioned in a similar thread (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=54165).

Some thoughts on the...

Re: [Announce] PortaBase - A portable database application

Yes, this is fixed in rc1. There was a regression in beta2 which prevented any new files from being created, but didn't interfere with editing existing files; I guess most people had already created...
