Re: Android is not open
Not sure why I'm responding to this flame-bait, but I'm a sucker, always been, sooooo....
Every Android device can be "rooted" in a fairly trivial (and practically manufacturer-sanctioned) way. ...

Re: Maemo Mapper for N800
The built-in Maps application uses vector maps that you download en masse before us, typically divided up into regions. Maemo Mapper, on the other hand, is much simpler - it downloads raster maps...

Re: Download maemo-mapper maps on SDK
First, make sure "Auto-download" is enabled in the "Maps" menu.
If maps are attempting to download but failing, then it might be a problem with the /etc/resolv.conf file in your scratchbox shell. ...

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.6 - SQLite and APRS
Well, I might have been unclear. I said that this new version should fix the cross-platform limitations of GDBM that were making it impossible to fix Winmapper. So, theoretically, Winmapper is...

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.6.2 Release
Selecting "Bluetooth GPS" and leaving the field blank is correct behavior. In fact, from the perspective of the backing libgpsmgr API, confusingly, that is exactly what should be done for the N810. ...

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.6.2 Release
Are you seeing the same issue as in that bug? Because the patch mentioned in that bug has been in Maemo Mapper since v2.4.1. Are there any differences between your situation and the situation...

Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories
Not really. Most tile numbers are referenced from 0 degrees latitude, 0 degrees longitude. King County's tile numbers are referenced from some random point near King County. I could technically...

Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories
Google Satellite maps seem to be unavailable, perhaps indefinitely. They don't seem to be very accepting of satellite imagery being pulled off of their servers in an automated fashion, and I'm not...

Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories
Maemo Mapper's estimate can vary widely in accuracy, particularly between repositories. Maemo Mapper doesn't know the average tile size on a per-server basis - I just picked a number. Satellite...

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.6 - SQLite and APRS
Satellite maps might be a lost cause from Google. Theyir spyware-detection algorithms are too sensitive to consider Maemo Mapper requests to be legitimate. I can't even test it in my browser...
