From my recent experience with N900 I would say your USB port is about to break. When it happened to me I got error: "Insufficient power". Have you tested your wallcharger to be in working order?

Now it seams that were are on dangerous waters.. If you don't know what your doing you risk destroying your phone or in the worst case causing a fire. Lithium batteries are DANGEROUS and should not...

You did hook the cable to back of your PC (not to USB hub)? If your USB ports won't deliver enough current the phone won't charge. Why do you want to charge your phone from your PC? Wallcharger will...

Ok.. I thought you might have since there has been no new releases.. It works fine, but it increases the battery drainage ~5-10% in 12 hours. It doesn't sound much, but it almost doubles the idle...
