Soldering iron to strenghten the usb port

Hey, I've been meaning to strenghten the usb ports on my two N900s before the ports fall off, but I was wondering, what kind of soldering iron do i need?

Would a cheap 60w one with thin tip...

Yeah, I figured it would probably be one of those weird aftermarket n900s made from random parts. Still seems good for the price if it works, though.

I think the main issue about using the n900 as webserver or any kind of server is the fact it can only connect to the network through wifi, instead of ethernet

Try this:
cd /opt/packet-injection-modules/2.6.28.10-power52/
sudo sh packet-injection.sh


And there you go, you should be able to use aircrack-ng, aireplay-ng, etc

The ones that worked for 51 aren't loading, so I guess they'd need to be recompiled for 52.

EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out, it's in /opt/packet-injection-modules/2.6.28.10-power52/

I'd definitely try to get a new one above refurbished/used, as jd4200 said above. I've bought 2 used n900's and haven't encountered issues, though, just trust the seller.

Where can I find "RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin" (North America)? It doesn't seem to be mirrored on that skeiron.org link and the official nokia site is down.

I still use the n900 daily as main phone, and don't really want to change until it breaks or a better phone comes out.

I noticed xorg using a bunch of cpu too. It never seemed to affect battery life or performances, though, so I'd just leave it be.

n900's flash memory and microsd cards are a lot slower i/o-wise than SSDs, and so are the rest of the specs
