UPDATE
I fired Fiddler on my pc, entered the registration URL to a browser, and according to the Fiddler, the whatsapp server also returned HTTP 200 status with the following response:

I upgraded to Yappari version 2.0.17, went through a new registration process. Yappari report itself as S40 version but incomming messages remain encrypted.

According to this Scorpius post (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1240523&postcount=947) yappari uses "Nokia S40 method" for registration against WhatsApp server.

So changing "platform" value...

I would give it a try but I do not know how to create a deb package for maemo.

I cloned the source code, I can make the change but I don't know how to build/package it.

Is there any tutorial...

This is a good point. If Yappari identifies itself during the negotiation phase with WhatsApp server as an outdated Symbian/BB WhatsApp client, messages would be sent in plain text and thus readable....

I'm afraid It's only matter of time when all WhatsApp clients will have to implement TextSecure (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TextSecure) for encryption/decryption of messages.

You are right. I checked connection.cpp (https://github.com/agamez/yappari/blob/master/src/yappari-application/Whatsapp/connection.cpp) And method processing messages (schematic version below)...

There is an example of incoming message that was received by yappari (if I understand the log file correctly) but it wasn't shown on screen.
A part of the log that seemed relevant to me is attached....
