If you go to Settings -> ShortcutD, you should be able to turn off the proximity sensor and just set the camera key (both short and long press) to do what you need it to do. You can also have the proximity sensor enabled, but set it to activate only after you hold a finger above it for couple seconds. All those changes you can made from the Settings app. Hope this helps.
