I hope it's a replacement at this cost.

The digital pen moniker is significant, as styluses are generally simple pointing devices that are indistinguishable from other objects. This pen (AFAIK) will register strokes different than the input from your fingers/hand, and thus can be used much more like pen-on-paper than can be attained with a stylus. I would imagine that using a stylus on a device that's as large as a tablet (even a 7" one), would be a painful experience!
