I see. Great. Thanks.

c) I prefer the behaviour as it is. The query passed to the API is as follows:

Example search: 'nokia n900'

'nokia n900' or 'nokia' or 'n900'

I'm not sure if the API discards common words such as 'of' or 'and' etc.
I have not problems with the query passed per se. I am happy to adjust my criteria to get the results I want, its just sometimes it takes me a while so have to re-type it in multiple times which is annoying. It's not a problem just the having to type it in part which I'd like to reduce. It's fine if you like it the way it is, your call.

MIght I suggest then that the pull down remembers the last query and you add an "x" on the far right so that you can clear the query.

Setting the search order to 'relevance' should give you the same (or very similar) results to those obtained using the website. Ordering results any other way is bound to be result in false positives because idiots use tag spamming to get extra hits. Same problem everywhere on the web these days ... :/
Try searching for "ninos de la calle y ollanta humala". First result in Youtube and doesn't even come up in cutetube. Not sure why.
