Having seen
some benchmarks
of the Atom 570's GPU performance, I cannot in good conscience recommend the Samsung Chromebook to anybody that wants to do some gaming or enjoy WegGL at reasonable framerates.
This is *so* disappointing. Everything else about the chromebook is stellar, but neglecting the GPU is a big no-no.
Intel integrated graphics needs to die a swift death, along with the underperforming Atom. While the notebook will still be great for individuals that do light productivity, the new wave of WebGL games will suffer largely by the restrictions of the crap-tacular NM10 chipset (aka GMA x3100) found in this thing.
I'm looking forward to ARM kicking the stuffing out of intel next year. I hope that Google is working feverishly to get ChromeOS functioning on ARM as a thinner, lighter, longer-lasting Cortex A15 chromebook with next gen graphics (eg. Mali T604) would be a terrific computer.
