ANY???
see the leak (whether it was a leak or whether it was intentional teasing be as it maybe) & the RM-680 specs on the FCC site seems to indicate it will have a keyboard.
and if it was only a developer device to be distributed to a select few in SF, why would the leak be a problem? about 999 % of the ppl who would be interested in it won't get one, anyway.
so why take it off line again?
the videos would come out next week, perfectly legally on youtube, by those lucky few who got one, giving all the details away.
what f#cking difference does it make whether the video was leaked a week earlier or @ all?
none, which so ever!
thus
FCC certification + (leaked ~ teasing) video = consumer phone

and if Maemo remains (remotely) true to itself, it will be possible to download the original firmware & flash it back on the device any time one wishes to.
or flash a different kernel, for that matter.
or install LostDOS se7en Paralysed on it, if one wishes to.
& it should also be possible to flash a HE (Hacker Edition) on the previous device (aka N900), unless it gets an official upgrade (which i think it was rumoured to get)

i don't have any insider informations, simply been playing around w/ my N900 for a year now & been using NOKIA devices for over 12 yrs.
from what Rich Green said about the MeeGo device & strategy, there is no reason why this shouldn't be possible
(dixit: «[...]as we evaluate the feedback from MeeGo we are going to consider that feedback and the technology therein for inclusion in our you know next generation technologies or platform technologies that we talked about»)
does that sound like they want to exclude the Maemo community & its contributions? or even only limit it to a bunch of guys who happen to have been in the right place in the right time?
not to me
