You know I enjoy reading your posts, but this cannot be ignored. You're passing of speculation as fact and writing in a very assertive
way as to lead people that some of your comments are fact, when they are not.

For example:
Seriously?

How can you project future performance of battery life from a software upgrade that does not yet exist?

ChromeOS doesn't even have an ARM port. Now, it's likely that there will be one available, but what that will look like remains to be seen -- eg. verified boot or that NaCl requires virtualization, a cortex A15 capability, and a V8 port to the hardware. I also won't hold my breath that for a swift development movement on the laptop dock.

Now these things may happen, and very well likely so, but they are not guaranteed to happen, and certainly not guaranteed in the short run. They should be stated as speculation, not fact. It is misleading.

Oh, and the GSII has HDMI out as well.

As an aside:
This entire buy-based-on-potential has stung far too many people in this place, including myself. I would easily recommend the GSII over the Atrix 4G.
No offence taken buddy.

The HDMI is better on the Atrix than the GSII, in my humble opinion, because it gives you the chance to use the two ports separately. What if I want to connect a flash/hard-drive and playback the media from it to the big screen? Not possible with the GSII (iirc) because the spliter attempts to recognize the hdd as the TV. With no dongle, no software issues, its a foolproof way.

I know for sure that Ubuntu is high on the list for things to be done, if the bootloader gets unlocked/bypassed. And imagine the laptop-dock with UNR loaded on, its a mobile PC! Remember the whole Xperia family's bootloader got bypassed a month ago?? The Atrix has a bigger battery, so with proper implementation (ie custom kernel) I would expect it to surpass the GSII in terms of battery life.

So my recommendation is to stick with the Captivate. Its a great looking phone, blazing fast, and heaps of community support/third-party software. The upgrade to a GSII is more of an incremental than an outright ascension.

Once these dual-core smartphones have matured, (and competition heats up), its likely that a better option will be available ... eg HTC somethingsomething. Or perhaps an older model (eg Atrix) will get its cost reduced. And maybe, an option like the Atrix might be blessed with proper custom roms, salivating desires.

PS I thought Chrome OS is supported on both x86 and ARM platforms.
