I use Mappero 3.2 from extras-testing:

Start Mappero
Tap the TOP Menubar
Tap Settings
Tap Checkboxes
Set "Advance Notice" at least to the middle of the slider.

GPS on
Tap Route
Tap Set destination... (needs internet connection)
and so on...

works for me
