The CSSU is its own thing, any changes made to the open source bits can be reused on whatever is later built on MeeGo.

Or, in time, the DE can be the basis for a Maemo replacement that won't have any closed bits. That's easier than begging Nokia to release bits they haven't in ~2+ years, or reverse engineering bits that aren't necessary anymore.
I read your post with astonishment because it is soooo wrong what you are saying.

Firstly look at the link on this thread of all the closed components and then you will see where the "no support" starts from.

Since when will Nokia "assure" support for MeeGo when it has formally announced it has dropped Meego AND Maemo alltogether for there new bonding with Microsoft.

If you honestly think Nokia will support MeeGo then your living in some dream world i assure you !.

You and i have argued on this forum relentlessly and you still keep at it only now your more subtle about it and if you really cannot see the importance of Nokia releasing all or some of the closed components source code then i am sorry for you.

The last bit of your post i have to agree with BUT time is our enemy here and once the new MeeGo handsets start to hit the market i am sure everything will go another direction and away from the N900.
