* Our goal is to provide a solid foundation for you and everyone to help build a phone OS on top of with base use cases already working (hw adaptation, calls, sms, browser, camera). If you believe in community's power to create brilliance you should love this.
* We take hardware support things such as BME, make them work under MeeGo and publish as binaries under redistributable licenses. We also if possible, open source some things. This is not always possible due to third party IPR, patents or whatever, but we do our best.
* Anything non-hardware specific contributed is usable on all other MeeGo devices.
* No, we're not going to touch the Maemo5 UI code. It is a dead end. We do Qt, Qt Quick, not dead end GTK+ mixed with Hildon.
* As a final side note, you keep saying MeeGo isn't being built for N900. It is. Having lower end hardware working fine makes a lot of sense as value.
Ok Carsten thanyou for giving us this information which i think now finally proves on this very thread that Nokia have indeed got no intentions whatsoever of doing anything with Maemo.

I have to give you my homest opinion of the work on MeeGo and it is also the same as other peoples posts on here in that it is very slow and nowhere near ready yet for the N900.

Now we have a greater debate about the source code for the Maemo OS of the N900 as you have confirmed Nokia have released to you as a sub-contractor the code we are all trying to get out of Nokia.
This Poll has brought out some very interesting information and if you look at the voting it now stands at 411 for and 15 against, i consider that to be overwhelming odds for Nokia to release the code to the CSSU.

Now we have another debate to chew and that is why MeeGo development and the Maemo CSSU teams are not working together?.

The members of this Community now need to digest what you have said and give comments accordingly.
