Yes, the camera is a downgrade. I love to do macro shots with the N900. Not possible with a webOS device up to date.
There are some similarities regarding the UI comparing webOS and Harmattan. No wonder as the webOS UI designer works on Harmattan now.
That's nice then. I always thought webOS was the best looking mobile OS ( Maemo is a close second). But I do think the UI designed for capacitive touchscreens doesn't look elegant/sleek. IMO the buttons and other interface elements are too big to be elegant. It has to be useable for people with sausage fingers.
That is what I like about Maemo 5. Nice color themes (fully personalizable) and and good sized buttons.
I do like the Typeface of webOS. I use it on my N900.

Besides isn't Skillman the person who designed the hardware? And Mattias Duarte the software?

@ jakiman: If you use camkeyd to bring up the task switcher, you still have to select the thumbnail afterwards. btw, from the photos that I have of the test N9 consumer device, I cannot tell if it has a camera button or not. I can see 3 silver coloured buttons protruded on the right. Looks like Volume up, down plus a power/lock button just below it. I really hope it does have a camera button. If so, we could probably get camkeyd-like daemon/app created for the N9 as well anyways. =)
I am hoping with you :-)

edit: It does have camera key as it seems.
