Hello People!

Today I was cycling through the city, and I felt something falling out of my pocket. Kdeng pam klets spleng... There was my N900. I have tried booting it up at home... a broken screen. But god may know what is broken too.

My first question: How can I recover the data out of my N900? There must be a way by just reading the RAW MMC-data, and then just mounting it on my Linux workstation. I bet someone has done this before, any ideas?

My second question: What will the successor of the N900? Or won't there be any, because the whole Microsoft-Nokia takeover is killing Maemo/Meego? I think I must go to Android, then... I only allow Linux on my mobile! Root and freedom is the way to go, I believe.

My third question: The shop where I bought it won't propably send it out for warranty. Is there any way to hide the scratches from the device? *Maybe* they will fix it.

The N900 is the best phone I ever had. Buying a new one (and no, I ain't going to buy one from eBay or second hand) is nearly impossible. There are no trustworthy shops in the Netherlands area wich provide them for a small price. The Phone shop in my city can't deliver one, unknown deliver time.

I think I need to switch to Android, but that breaks my heart. Google must keep their hands off my contacts and other private things...

Thanks for any response, input, and pointers.

PS: The N900 is a bit old, too. 600Mhz is a bit 2009... 2x1+Ghz is more 2011!
