@Saturn: Honestly, the cellid informations are the most important from my point of view in case the device gets stolen etc. We cannot assume to get a GPS fix or that the device is connected to the internet in general but we can rely on GSM, this is for sure, and cellid informations are better than nothing. The default configuration for smscon_script should be that it is executable but that is not the issue here. As I assumed there are interferences between smscon and smssend:
sudo gainroot /opt/smscon/smscon_script
One more thing: Upgrading smscon resets all settings including smscon_script. Blues
