I own a Huawei S7, the precursor to the Huawei Slim and Mediapad. Build is solid. Battery life is pretty poor (small battery), on the heavy side for such a small battery. From what I understand, the Slim is a bit smaller, a bit better on battery, a bit lighter, etc. Same hardware as the S7. The mediapad should be an upgrade hardware wise. However, Huawei support is essentially non-existent, the S7 was debuted with a dock that has failed to materialize. The S7 accelerometer axis were slightly off (swapped) on 2.1, with 2.2 two axis are fully swapped. As a result, some games will play ok, some won't. I don't believe a fix is forthcoming, so it's potentially screwed up in the mediapad as well. But, there is a small, semi-active group on androidtablets.net doing some rom tweaking, etc. Still, at 7", it's in the range I'm looking for, and I wouldn't rule them out, as the pricing has been very competitive.
