It's been confirmed that the N9 UI is closed and this is a community which desires open source. So there you have what I think is fair to say an understandable amount of disappointment. Yes, open source software has the advantage over closed software that it cannot as easily be taken away or rendered obsolete and can last for years. Yes, we want that.
