It was getting hard to keep track of all of the features for each of the contending devices for my wife's gift, so I decided to get quantitative.

I listed out all of the "killer apps" for portable electronics, in roughly the order in which they became mainstream. (Let me know if I missed something). I'm scoring the hardware, out-of-box software, and 3rd party software for each device on a 0-10 scale. The final score for each app is the harmonic mean of the hardware and software scores. Finally, I've guessed how important each might be to my wife and used that to get a weighted average.

I thought people here might be interested in how the N810 fares (below). Everything is obviously subjective, based on what I've read online, so let me know if you think I'm way off.

As you guys can see, the 3rd party software for the N810 really makes a difference. Otherwise, it would not be nearly as competitive. Congrats to all of the 3rd-party developers here.
