My main car, a 1990 Subaru, is not equipped with bluetooth. Its receiver seems to be messed up. So without FM transmitter, I would be totally unable to listen to The Economist mp3 in my car.
By the way, I reduce interference by (a) closing my antenna to as short as I can, and (b) putting my N900 in the ashtray next to the radio. Works well for me.

By the way, those of you who think that FM Transmitter is so useless, you might check out, say, Flying J's on the Americian interstate road system. These combo gas stations/ restaurants/ convenience stores actually sell COMPETING BRANDS of FM transmitters in the stores! This indicates to me that FM transmitters are in more demand than you realize.
