Friends,
I am totally as I am not able to trace a very important 40 mins recording (.wav) file on my Nokia N900. I have done zillions of recording using this phone but this time something strange has happened.

Below are the steps to reproduce the scenario -

Stack :
Laptop on Ubuntu 9.1 (for what it's worth)
Device : Nokia N900 connected to laptop on 'Mass Storage Mode'

1) Connect your N900 with the USB cable to the laptop
2) Start the recorder (I am not sure if this recorder came out of the box or I downloaded it) but it has a red color big dot as an icon
3) Recording starts - the voices are coming from the laptop speakers and we are talking over skyppe
4) When it's time to save the recording , I stop the recording and give it a file name but now N900 does not allow me to pick a location to save this file but remains at root directory (/) but saves the file there as while existing the recorder it does not ask 'Do you want ot save the file ?' so I am assuming that it has saved it.
5) Now I am not able to get the recording back - I am not sure where it has gone.

In all the earlier recordings I had never connected my device via USB and while saving the recording the voice recorder always allowed me to select a location to save the file but this time it did not. I could not figure out that this happens because of it is connected via USB to the laptop but realized it later.

I had to connect N900 via USB since it was running low on battery !

Please help as I have just lost a very important customer conversation (software requirements) and I don't have no way to get back to him and ask 'can we do it again?'

very very disappointed
