Yea, I would think it would be a tough sell. For me, I might pay it if accessaries were availble that made is it compatiable with hwkb, something like easy debian with repositories could be used as well as the other great apps developed for maemo. Then I would have something like a mobile computer made in the image of the n900 which is what I really want.

On the otherhand, if that is not the case it will be a tough sell for me, especially without a phone plan, (here I am taking the view more so of a typical consumer in US, my apologies if you are misrepresented so please do speak up!) since I am left with a device that, yes, looks very nice, that is probably good for phone, internet use, social contacts and entertainment. But then there is a lot more competition here. The Samsung infuse has a nice 4.5 inch screen. The droid 3 is to be released in mid July and that has a 4inch screen and, (warning for those with keyboard envy and felt forsaken by the lack of one for the n9 you might not want to read the following) has a 5 row keyboard. Oh yes, for what it is worth, did I mention dual core... My guess is that you can get these phones for about 200 or less with a phone plan. While you can and should argue about the real merit of all these features and the manufacured quality of these devices and so forth. My main point is that a lot of interesting stuff will be availble in the short term and it is a long time between now and September. Plenty of time to decide if you want to shell out $600-$750.
