Since the N9 has no keyboard you don't have a screenshot shortcut, hence the Screenshot app takes uses a timer in order to take a screenshot. To get the above result you just need to gauge the time precisely and then use the pinch gesture to move from 3x3 to 2x2 grid of apps, or vice versa, and capture the transition phase for that 'weirdness'...
