Since camera-ui(2) is part of CSSU, maybe there are better chances?

I can fix this in the gst-plugins packages. It works for
me but I hadn't time for more test. If you like I can send
you the modified package and you can test it.

isn't in fullscreen mode, you will see two icons (camera-ui

I will look at this. For me it works, but I already made some
code changes, so my version isn't the one from CSSU

No logfile, but if you have syslogd installed there should
be some debug messages in /var/log/syslog.
Or start the camera-ui from the commandline
/usr/bin/camera-ui
