Are you talking about pocket/portable WiFi routers?

Not only have they been around for quite some time, but the topic has been heavily discussed on this forum as well. Note that, unless you have some kind of ethernet-over-AC network, most of the time you'll need two outlets: a wall socket and an ethernet port.
