Not quite, especially if you count all major Maemo updates released by Nokia, including Hacker Editions:
  • 770: OS2005, OS2006, OS2007HE, OS2008HE
  • N800: OS2007, OS2008, OS2008.1
  • N810: OS2008, OS2008.1
  • N900: Maemo 5

Clearly, Nokia had to do something to switch away from Maemo. Otherwise, following the trend line, they would have been required to release the N900's successor with no OS at all.
