It's like picking a horse. It more than likely has a funny name, doesn't even know that you're alive, is willing to accept your money many times over and ultimately if it wins, you share the jubilation but not the same amount of dividends.

You just luckily picked a good horse.

Sadly, Maemo was a good horse. I picked it because I like open source devices that are supported by an active community. For years, I picked right. Even bought Nokia stock (at their prior lowest, cashed out when they had a 11% hike... I ain't in it with them for the long-term) - but I also own Apple (since 2000) and Microsoft (can't remember when) stock.

Brand loyalty is a funny thing to me though. But as it stands, a lot of folks are upset about not the brand going away and being largely ignored and a shadow of its prior self... a lot of folks around here miss the camaraderie and community as a whole - and if you were part of the ITT crowd, we missed that. If you're part of the TMO crowd, you might not have a point of reference unless you're also part of the MeeGo crowd. And then watching TMO "die" is the equivalent of us ITT'ers watching TMO kill off ITT.

And for us still around from the ITT days, hell... we've seen MeeGo get killed off by Elop, Maemo get killed off, then TMO die slowly and ITT die quickly.

****. I might start wearing nothing but black when I post in these forums.
