True. But, honestly, what *would* a single unit cost? I mean, someone already figured sort of what it would take, and I'm sure there are plenty of industrious chinese with access to new parts that could do it... I'm sure there's an electronics firm that specializes in one-off and small run parts that could do it.
The only question is how much. And I'm actually very curious.
Considering that the Cordia tablet(which, admittedly, is pretty stock hardware with a couple of changes at best) is looking at being able to sell them for $300 with a 250 starting batch size... I wonder. I really do.
Figure that a tegra2 smartphone costs somewhere in the $500 range, in quantity. A slider with all the other parts, somewhere around $100. So, 5-10k for a single unit, provided it's a fairly simple "toss circuit modules together, order board, assemble" type of thing might be possible. I don't know. I'd actually like to know.
edit:
Back to the original topic, why not buy a couple N900s, OC them to 1.15ghz. If you use a custom profile, you can do it. Install a SD card, set it up as second swap. Do transition configuration... You'll get at least as good as a N950, but without the downsides of the stupid TC bits.
