Honestly, not really. Doing some swap tweaks(along with OC) makes it not really noticible - I run out of CPU capacity before I run out of ram, unless I'm messing with crap like desktop apps via EasyDebian, and even then.
256mb of ram can be plenty... you just have to tweak the settings. Seriously.

And if tweaked right, it can still be perfectly responsive with most of the ram filled and it swapping!
I... just don't see the problem. For me, battery life(and no second core) is a far worse problem than the lack of extra ram.
