are you trying to listen to local radio stations? if that's the case then you need to install "FM Radio" from you app manager. this might sound odd but the N900 has the hardware to receive fm radio signal but doesn't have the software for it out-of-the-box. you're going to love this community. and i definitely agree with vi_ (though have no idea about the SCUD battery he was talking about). congrats on the purchase!
