That I can agree with. Look, Android has proved more than anything that Linux is capable for some weird stuff. That is not the question here. Android is not exactly a vanilla Linux, but still, on less than 1 GHz and 512+ MB RAM it doesn't exactly rock. Even on the SGSII there are issues as overheating etc.

The N9 though may be just perfect. A perfect blend of hardware and software. Soon we will find out.

WebOS couldn't save Palm/HP. It tried two times, but it just didn't work.
Fair, personally I'm not really an Android fan either (even though I prefer it any day before that iCrap, both technically and ideologically), because I don't think it's a true representation of a real linux OS and it also runs that java engine which probably would be the reason to why someone would consider those devices bloated or slow or burning up the hardware. You are not running native code so what would you expect?

What I just cannot agree with though is when someone calls Linux bloatware. What do you compare with then? One has to make comparisons in the right context in order to be fair. You cannot compare a desktop OS with some embedded OS or even a OS designed for tablets. It's very different stuff.
If you take a look at the embedded linux kernels for instance, you can really start to talk about scaleability and minimalistic design, even if its clearly not the best choice for targeting the smaller types of microcontrollers where you have completely different demands for flexibility (look at Enea OSE for instance in such cases).

Besides, if you want to look at real bloatware, take a look at Vista or Windows 7, that's where things has gotten out of hand completely.
I cannot speak for OSX, but I don't care because I loathe that commercial hell hole more than anything. They're even worse than Microsoft.
