I'm also interested in getting this 'feature' removed. I Secure Device all the time, and I have it auto-securing after 10 minutes anyway. I've managed to switch off my N900 more than once this way - as Astute points out, it's not a deal-breaker, but I'd love it to be gone nonetheless. Also 'Switch off!' option on the system menu is worse than worthless for me (anyone know why it's needed or useful?) as I've once or twice slipped and tapped it instead of 'Secure Device' or 'Silent'.
Neither this thread nor
the other one I found on this topic
has any insight into why this is needed, or what we could do to remove it. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the 'Switch off device?' functionality is deep within a closed-source binary - can anyone comment?
Is there any way we can disable this dialogue? I'm willing to put in technical work/analysis/testing if someone can point me in the right direction, but my expertise is not in this area so I'm not too sure where to start.
While we're on the topic: it'd be nice to have basic Media Player controls and the time on the Secure Device screen. Anyone agree (or disagree)? I'm aware of
the [awesome] work qwerty12 did
, but that's not really what I'm after.
