When quantities are limited, why not sell to the people that want to pay full retail? The people buying N810s must be happy enough with the available 2008 software to make their purchase decision, or don't mind waiting until more 2008 software becomes available.

The developers will get their N810s. I'm waiting. Personally I want to see Nokia make the most money on this platform as possible so that they will continue to release new models and improve the software infrastructure, for selfish reasons of course.

I think what is going on here can be a good case of study for an MBA.

Do you wanna be successfull: Give 500 discount codes to your developers so they gracefully move from 770 to N800.

Do you wanna shoot your foot: Give them 500 discount codes and do not activate them for a couple of monthes after the release of the product. No official when, no offical why.

This way you have the people spending time searching why their codes don't work instead of making their projects run on the new device.

And if you can advertise Canola2 for a month to then at the last minute say you are not releasing because there is an obscure ok reason, then you kill the platform totally!!!

After that you simply say that linux is not ready for business. That always work.

Nobody is going to get angry about the stupid situation, because we all know that if we do we are not going to have a new discount code ever.

Nobody has ever been fired because buying IBM.

Nobody has ever been fired because they smashed stupidly a beautiful great linux project.
