I can't immediately see a thread to that effect. Speaking only for myself (ymmv):

1) the "ideal" settings pretty much are exactly that. I can get away with a 1000MHz overclock, most of the time, but it all seems more stable at 900 or 950.

2) the "starving" settings appeared to work for me at first, but were the cause of incomprehensible errors when reading and writing to the SD card. These went away when I went back to "ideal", my device doesn't like the starving voltages when I ask it to do some work.

3) Enabling SmartReflex on both VDD1 and VDD2 seems to be good for battery life, but, it's not compatible with overclocking above 805Mhz. For me this seems to be an acceptable compromise, so, my default settings are the "ideal" profile with MAX=850 and VDD0=1, VDD1=1.

4) I presently have a "tablet mode" icon on my desktop which gives me a temporary boost to 1000MHz overclock and 3G radio mode when explicitly requested. This is undone next time the phone locks. I'm still working on better ways to run this and launch <insert application here>, but, it seems to be a good compromise to default to ideal voltages, SmartReflex, moderate overclocking but have a short-term boost for web browsing, etc.
