Not sure this will improve the mood of anyone who's been lumped with a symbian phone but for the benefit of anyone who's got a fault covered by warranty: I have just had my device replaced by Nokia UK and now have a new/reconditioned N900, which appeared to come from Italy.

When I sent my device for repair I included correspondence making it clear that a symbian replacement was not acceptable AND that the T&C URI doesn't work (this is true) thus I didn't know what I was agreeing to. I said that "I ticked the box in good faith" and that I expected my device to be "repaired and returned in a timely fashion". Also, the device I sent in was reflashed but not sure that makes any difference. Beware ... check the t&c URI. Does it work?

Please don't flame me if you've been symbianed but for those who haven't yet: getting an N900 replacement is possible. You should include corresponence with your faulty device that is both polite and direct, requesting your desired outcome. Clearly, it's not possible to take the necessary steps with Nokia once the repair/replacement procedure has been completed so my suggestion is to be clear beforehand.

Good luck.
