I was very surprised (and ashamed a little, really) to read that some people would like to see me as Council candidate. Excuse me, if I have not stand for some expectations - I though (and still think) that there are many much more appropriate people to do it.
It was even more shock, to see today how few candidates we have, and how people decide to nominate themselves just to give Community a choice. Yea, Texrat is perfectly right, that there was a time - just judging on all "future" threads, it was out of my assumptions scope, that there will be less than
10
skilled candidates. Especially, that beyond nominating Yourself (which form I don't really like, honestly) there was an option to nominate someone else. By the way, my assuming fail may prove by itself, that I'm not right person to candidate
Although I respect (and personally like) every person that nominated themselves/were nominated, I'm little worried of situation, where we lack huge contributors of code, or hardware specialists (MAG, joerg_rw, freemangordon, I'm lucking at You!
). It was also one of factors, that made me to decide of not putting my name into hat. sure, eloquent and communicate "Public Relations" Council members are needed, but IMO not at 100% of Council squad.
Just to make things clear - this is not meant to depreciate people. that actually nominated themselves (and become Council members, as it seems) - they at least did it, instead of just talking about it (like me). So, new Council got IMO full mandate to perform hard work in these stormy days
By the way - looking at amount of work that so (surprisingly) few people need to do, I would like to offer my help @ every possible thing that I'm capable of. I'm really interested in supporting Maemo, even more without honors of being Council member. It's not complimentary declaration - really, ping me if I could be of any help, including "dirty and boring" monkey-like work.
