One problem with a lot of anti-spam methods, such as not being able to post links until after having posted X posts, or having the first Y posts only posted after approval, is that it just delays the spammers a bit. I've already seen a few dodgy-looking posts from people who just reply to old random threads with "thanks, I have the same problem" or similar, and they do that enough times until they are seen as legit, and only then do they release the spam.

By the way, I'm happy to volunteer as a spam-removing mod. I wouldn't want to do any other kind of moderation, just removing spam. Any existing mods can feel free to look back in the history of the amount of spam I've reported in the past.
