I'd never take any phone (no N900, no iPhone, no Android) for photos to a critical event. Phones and tablet computers are that: phones
and tablet computers.
Take the light weight and you will get shaky photos on such occasions.
This is still a field for grown up photo cameras.

N900 and the other phones are ok if you do not have your camera
with you and you get an unexpectable shot.

Nothing more.
