Your memory wasn't corrupted. The EMMC wasn't working at all. It is possible that it became disconnected from the motherboard or maybe it just failed. Connecting to a computer won't cause any permanent problems, the worst is some filesystem corruption which can normally be fixed with a simple filesystem check or worst case a reformat. The only thing you can do that might reduce that problem from recurring is not dropping your N900.
