Why wouldn't you be able to go to a Nokia Service point near you and get it fixed? They don't have to be the same place where you bought the device.
That is the way I got my N800 internet tablet fixed. (bought it online in the Nokia webshop, since it wasn't sold in any real shops here in the Netherlands).
They needed to send the device to some repair center in Poland back then, took 3 weeks, but device worked fine since.

I can't believe Nokia would say "sorry that device isn't sold in this country, so you can't claim warranty", that would be the worst customer service ever.
Nokia used to have a customer service phone line, maybe you could call them and just ask? People travel a lot these days, of course they have a policy for this.
