Marco mentioned during the revealing of the N9 that (and Im paraphrasing) "unlike other phones, you dont need to hold this device a specific way", a cute little wink at the trouble the iphone4 was charged with early on, as we all know.

So what do you expect? its all about marketing! Or did you expect the device should not have an antenna or what!? :O

Atleast theyr smart enought place the antenna where you NOT hold your hands (3).
